For a while it seemed that we would never get a decent app on Android that allowed users to check trains, find out what platform they need and other information. But the opening up of train data to app makers has meant that now there are a number of apps that will offer up this information. The latest is the Trainline.

Already a decent site in its own right, The Trainline has always been in the business of offering up cheaper train journeys to the masses. Unfortunately for the site, the margins on ticket discounts have got less and less, so it has had to rely on making its site the most consumer friendly it can be so that it doesnt lose users.

The Trainline app is an extension of this and is great to use. The app comes in four easy sections: find trains, my tickets, my account and app info.

The find trains section takes seconds to use and comes up with information quickly, and if you already have a Trainline account, then the usability of the app is notched up a scale. This is because you can buy tickets straight from the app and you have the choice of picking tickets up from the station or downloading a mobile version of the ticket.

The Trainline benefits massively from a clean user interface and theres a decent amount of information on the app so you understand just what youre buying and how.
